Welcome One and All

Welcome to our Blog! This is going to be so much fun! This blog is not limited to just one type of craft. While our favorite is scrapbooking (layouts and cards), we venture into altering items, painting, decopage art, and much much more. We're always up for trying something new and for making our mark on the world. Hope you enjoy our projects and are able to draw lots of inspiration and make your own mark!

And the Craftiness Continues...

I'm still on the craft high from this weekend so here's a couple of pages that I stayed up all night working on. Its so hard to go to bed when there's this little craft bug buzzing in your ear.

~Kori

These are my two little nephews. We recently did a big family group photo session. (There's a LOT of us!) None of the kids seemed inclined to participate in posed pictures, but when they think no one is looking you get cute little gems like these pics. The boys were also sporting their brand new cowboy boots from Christmas. I think we spent more time that day wrangling stray boots than anything else.

These 3 are actually Krista's kiddos, but as honorary Aunt Kori, I gotta have a page or two or twelve of them around.

My Saturday of Awesomeness!

Yesterday I went to an all day Crop. Which for those who are not scrapbookers, that is a group of scrapbookers getting together and doing what we love best. Here are the pages I got done. :)

~ Kori

Here is a picture of my dear friends little girl. She is so cute and its hard to believe she was once that little.

And here she is now. This week Hannah was given an award for Most Outstanding Student at her school. This Aunt couldn't be more proud of her!

Krista took this picture of my niece and nephew and this page has quickly become all my all time favorites!! The picture and the paper went together so well I was almost too intimidated to scrap it.
This picture of my niece is from the same shoot as above. The quote says, "Be not afraid of going slowly but of only standing still."

Sometimes we all gotta be a little sappy and I chose this page to show a friend how special she is to me.

Ok, so every time I go to this particular Crop, the group has a challenge page that we are to make. This month's challenge was to incorporate Christmas wrapping paper into a layout. I think it turned our really cute!

This is my youngest nephew Garrett. I find that I don't have many pages of him. This must be fixed PRONTO!

To help keep ourselves moving along while we scrap, Krista and I like to issue each other little challenges. This challenge was to use that paper picked by the other person. I love this paper, but had no idea what to do with it. Thanks to Krista I was forced to figure it out and ended up with a cute little simple page.

This page is simply me from top to bottom. The bright colors that explode out at you and the bling that add some sparkle. My poor husband doesn't know what to think of it, but I <3 it in every way possible. The quote says, "We're all a little strange and life's a little strange. Someday we find someone who's strangeness is compatible with ours and fall in mutual strangeness and call it love."

*** Sorry for the less than spectacular photos and cropping. My camera has decided to die so all these pics of my pages are being taken with my phone. Yay technology!

So Much Glitter!!!!!!!!!!!

Take supreme boredom. Add some more boredom. Then sprinkle on a little glitter..and my little, I mean a LOT. What follows can only be called Awesomeness!

~Kori

There were just a pair of old black flats that I had laying around.
I am still working on going back over and getting a good covering of Modge Podge to seal on the glitter.
I can't wait to wear them!!!

Remember...

This is my beautiful, artistic niece, Janieka. She challenges me to look at things in a different light. Sometimes I get to caught up in my own world and how I have changed and grown and become so adult. Her wonder and excitement in the world keeps me young at heart and humble. I came across this little gem of a photo while editing pics to use this weekend at an all day crop and I just had to stop and share it and remember. <3

Kitty Meow!

So Krista came across this weird little table at a garage sale....

and I had this weird creative idea that it should become...

Thus begins a struggle of how the hell am I supposed to make this??? Factor in more trips to the hardware store than I have ever made for any single project and lots of help from the hubby and his power tools. And thus was born.....

I absolutely love the rope scratching post up the back and just a few simple toys. You wouldn't believe how much fun kitties can have with a dollar store pinwheel!

Various things I've been working on while away...

Well I have kinda gotten into doing more altered projects in the ...OMG 10 months?!?!?! that I've been away. Here are a few of the big projects I have done. Enjoy :)

~ Kori

Altered Teacher's Desk

I got this desk as a garage sale junker for $5. Some shiny paint, new hardware, and one awesome altered top, and this is a beautiful and unique desk that my hubby treasures. The top is simply scrapbooking paper that I decoupaged ( have I ever mentioned how much I love Modge Podge?) I did a slight inking to the edge of each torn piece. The ink, no matter how long I let it dry, always smudged a bit when I added the wet Modge Podge, but it worked out really well to help give the whole piece a very aged look. The hardest part of this whole project was just the inking of each individual little torn piece of paper. But in the end it was all worth it.

This is another altered desk project for my Mother-In-Law. I went for a more patterned quilted look on this one. Its as beautiful and elegant as she is and fits her perfectly.

**** Edit - If you are looking at making one of these altered desk projects, you WILL need to cover it with a glass top. Just to help even out imperfections and make it a nice smooth writting surface. Also make sure to use very fine grit sandpapering in between each layer of Modge Podge. Good luck!

Painted Changing Table

Sorry for the less than wonderful before pic. I didn't realize that it came out so bad until it was too late. Besides, Krista is the resident photographer around here. I got the changing table for $15. It is one of the older ones that is actually made of real wood. It is heavy and sturdy and wonderful!!! After using this table for a few months I was able to sell it for $60. Not too bad of a flip!

Painted Bunk Beds
Now I wish that I could take credit for these bunk beds, but sadly I did nothing but watch. My amazing artistic niece designed and painted this mural on a set of garage sale beds I purchased. I got these for $75 and when all was said and done, I was able to flip them for over $200.

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

My New Years Resolution...to get back to our blog and actually get it functioning again. Sorry we've been away so long. Lots of things have happened. I've moved houses and changed careers. Krista has moved as well and has set off on her own path as a full time photographer. But even though a lot has changed we are still as we ever were...crafters at heart. Thank you to our loyal friends and enjoy all the new and wonderful things to come!
