Laundry Room Decor

After months of looking for something for my laundry room, I decided to put my craftiness to work and make my own. Below are the results and I have to say that I am wonderfully pleased with how they turned out.

The is just a plain glass clock from Dollar General. I simply took a sheet of scrapbook paper and tore it into little pieces. Then using Modge Podge, I adhered the pieces onto the back of the glass so the paper was visible. (OMG can I take a second to rant on about how I love and adore Modge Podge? It makes my crafty life complete.) Then let dry completely and remove any extra paper hanging over the edges. A light sanding with just a nail file and it was ready to hang. Start to finish this project took me about an hour to complete.

Next is a comical sign. Using a plain painters canvas, I used colors to coordinate with my clock and used a bristled brush to create the textured look. The vinyl quote I ordered offline for $5 and simply followed the simple instructions to adhere it to the canvas. The a little white paint pen to finish it off and there you go. Simple and fun with a funny twist.

This one is my favorite and was so much fun to make. I took a piece of scrap wood that my husband has laying around, sanded and painted a sky blue. To make the clouds I used cotton balls and white paint and dabbed away. There were little pieces of the cotton that stuck to the board, but it just adds to the effect. These pictures I found online and printed. Using my amazing powers of scrapbooking, I put them on some cardstock and inked the edges to show a nice red. Then hung them along the board with some simple twine and painted clothes pins. The line hangs free along the front of the board so it mimics a real clothes line. I can even watch it move slightly when a breeze blows through the window.

  3. Well thank you ladies. :)

I hadn't even thought of changing out the pictures with the seasons, but that is a great ideal Karel! Following along with that line of thinking, I just thought of another fantastic idea. For either a just married couple or a couple with a new little addition....think of how cute that would be with their wedding attire or baby's sprecial outfits hanging on the line. String up a line and play around with differnt things. I would love to see what you come up with.

Gina - I had an interesting time finding that quote. I searched for days. I wanted something that wouldn't be too questionable as some of the more popular phrases are. I also didn't want something just a simple as "Laundry Room". I'm rather happy with what I was able to get. Its humorous without being too "out there". :)
